How to Make Related Youtube Videos Disappear!

Ever wanted to hide related Youtube videos on your website? Boy, you are not alone!

If you are a website owner and have any videos on your website, chances are they are Youtube videos. And, if you ever noticed what happens when your video stops playing, it’s not pretty. Youtube “recommends” other ones, which may be a competitor’s video or something completely inappropriate.

It can be embarrassing to have those related Youtube videos show on your site. At the very least, it makes me angry.

After all, it’s MY video. I produced it, I paid for it and I posted it. It’s MY website.

Yet, there’s Youtube (owned by Google), callously making money off my content posted on my site. And there’s me, helpless to do a damn thing about it.

That is, Until Now!

One of my clients, facing the same thing, asked if I would do something about this. I maintain his website and provide advice on website-related matters, so naturally I got the call when he wanted a solution.

At first, I hesitated. Seemed like a lost cause. Up until last year, there were workarounds where you could simply install a little code after the video URL (?rel=0) that specified to Youtube not to show the related videos.

But Youtube, ever seeking to expand revenue, kept finding ways to short-circuit ways to do an end run around the unwanted content showing. One by one, the well-publicized workarounds stopped working.

So, I wasn’t sure I wanted to even waste the time searching for a solution. But, since things are ALWAYS changing in the techniverse, I decided to search a bit, just to see what’s out there. I scanned through various links reading posts about this. Most were older posts touting the fix loophole that Google plugged in September 2018.

But, one of my keyword searches was “stop youtube recommendations at end of video 2019.” And I found something that changed everything.

Eureka! Lo and Behold! Hot Damn!

A guy named Maximillian has developed a WordPress plugin called HideYT that actually pauses Youtube videos at the end and blocks the unwanted crap. Now, for less than $50 a year, you can take control of your own website again. This plugin lets you stop those unwanted Youtube related videos from showing on your site.

It comes with a free 14-day trial. But, once I installed and activated the plugin and saw it was working, who needs 14 days?

I was sold!

You can see his explainer video for yourself at this link.

Need help installing it? We would be only too glad to help!

I am so excited about this I had to share it. Anyway, enjoy it while you can. Knowing Google and Youtube, they will probably figure out a way to close this loophole, too. But until they do, our websites are once again our own.

Bwahaha!
